Our Heart Our Home

Although our dynamic remote model allows us to serve you regardless of location, people are still surprised to learn that our headquarters are located well outside of a major metropolitan area.

A 25-minute-drive straight south of Calgary, AB, High River is a beautiful farming community built on the banks of the Highwood River. It’s the sort of town where people greet you as they walk past; a place where you can chat with the mayor at the local coffee shop and where film crews have flocked for nearly a century to capture the community’s vivid scenery and diverse authenticity.

High River has long been a gathering place for artists, among the most famous being Canadian author W.O. Mitchell, who was a resident of the town for over two decades and was later buried in the High River cemetery. In fact, most of the people you’ll meet here are artists, musicians, photographers, or writers, either professionally or on their own time, and it’s that artistic identity that led owner Ashleigh Baron to found Freshly Pressed here in 2008.

However, what truly sets High River residents apart is their steadfast determination. After experiencing one of the worst floods in Canadian history in 2013, the town seemed to have lost its identity. The museum, library, and many of the local businesses suffered devastating losses, and it looked as if our little town would never again capture the same sense of wonder that had attracted so many over the decades.

But natural disasters can’t compete with the unflagging tenacity, resilience, and creativity of our citizens. Visit us today and you'll find a vibrant community that has not only recovered, but has flourished in every way imaginable. High River has and always will be a home for dreamers.

So why High River? Because we can’t imagine ourselves anywhere else.
